It is a requirement that you have an Aviation Medical examination conducted by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner. The examination focuses on circulation, hearing, eyesight and general health. For a Private Licence you are required to have a Class 2 Medical, for Commercial Licence a Class 1 Medical is required.

If you are an overseas student considering having your Medical done prior to your arrival in Australia, please visit the Department of Immigration & Multicultural & Indigenous Affairs website to download the relevant forms. You will need Form 160A and 26A.
